Sculling Shells

Rowing Shell Cleaning in Vero Beach, Florida, and the Treasure Coast

At Topside Boating and Cleaning, we provide rowing shell cleaning in Vero Beach, FL, and the Treasure Coast.

I am happy to take care of your sculling/rowing shell. Many are stored outside on racks with hull side up. This means the hulls are exposed to the elements and need to be washed often, waxed every few months, and perhaps compounded a couple of times a year.

The topsides get dirty from the runoff from the hull. The hull has a track on the edges when facing up that fills with dirt and leaves, which then overflow.

Here is list of the detailing services I do for rowing shell cleaning in Vero Beach, Florida, and the Treasure Coast:

  • Remove dirt, mildew, leaf residue, etc. from the hull and topside
  • Remove yellow-brown scum from the hull
  • Compound and wax the hull
  • Wax the topside
  • Remove any rust on the oarlocks and seat axles
  • Clean the oars

Sculling shells need to be washed after every use. Every month or so, I recommend that they be washed with “Wash Wax.” This cleans the boat and leaves a protective layer of wax on it.

I cleaned two very similar shells for a client and the next day he sold one!
